The BM1871 Outdoor Bench was designed by Børge Mogensen for the Carl Hansen label.
With its folding design, this 1970s creation has become a timeless classic, offering functional seating for all kinds of outdoor settings. The BM1871 bench first appeared in 1971, starting as a home project for Mogensen, who needed a foldable seat for his home balcony. He soon realised that he had come up with a successful design, and the bench became an instant favourite. Carl Hansen has reissued the BM1871 Outdoor Bench, providing a new generation with the chance to enjoy its blend of practical features and aesthetic appeal.
The bench measures 170cm long when fully unfolded, and can be combined with cushions to create a place to lie and absorb some rays. But it's primary role is as a place to sit, whether to snack, read, or chat with family. It stands 44cm tall, and also has a depth of 44cm. Made from solid teak, it has a complex texture and attractive, organic appearance, allowing it to harmonise effortlessly with greenery and stone or timber surfaces. However it is used, the bench can also be stored with ease, thanks to an easy to use folding mechanism.
