Taro Bench

The Taro Bench was designed by Philipp Mainzer for the brand e15.

Mainzer is a German designer who has been the leader of e15 since the mid 1990s and shows no signs of slowing down. Famed for his simple wood-based furnishings, Mainzer goes beyond conventional forms when needed, but keeps decoration to a minimum, something that's easy to see with the Taro Bench. Appearing in 1996 and named after a tropical foodstuff, it uses oak wood to brilliant effect.

The Taro Benchhas a slim rectangular form measuring 180 x 40 cm, with a seat height of 47cm. This should enable the bench to slot neatly underneath most dinner tables, with plenty of clearance for comfortable usage. The table has been fashioned from oiled oak wood, which lends it extra durability and will retain the texture of the wood for many years. Designed to be extremely stable thanks to its tucked-in sides, the bench comes with accessories to aid maintenance, ensuring that it can be enjoyed over the long term. Made from richly toned natural oak and possessing a beguiling blend of solidity and delicacy, it is a handy seating option for both indoor and outdoor dining.
