The Popworm 11 Shelf was designed by Ron Arad for the manufacturer Kartell.
Based in Italy, Kartell is world famous for its chic, stylish furniture and modern accessories. Hailing from Israel, Ron Arad founded a London-based design firm known as Arad Associates, and first designed his famous bookworm shelf in 1994. The Popworm 11 Shelf is a variation of the original bookworm design, consisting of a coiled form that mimics the lines of a snail's shell, with 11 different wooden shelves protruding from it at various angles.
Measuring 520 x 20 x 19 cm, it makes a bold statement whether used as a conversation piece or as part of your living room decor. When placed in a game room, the Popworm 11 Shelf could be used to hold various types of media, with the different shelves supporting CDs, DVDs or video games. In a library, it could be used to hold an assortment of books as well as display new releases or best sellers. Regardless of where it is used, its contemporary design ensures it goes well with any type of furniture and accessories, while its solid PVC construction makes it a sturdy, practical piece for everyday use.
