The Big Will Dining Table/Office Table was developed by Philippe Starck for the manufacturer Magis, a pioneering Italian firm that has been at the cutting edge of contemporary furniture design since the 1970s.
An example of the kind of top names with which the company regularly collaborates Philippe Starck is a protean talent who has had a huge impact on the look of the world today, with his designs not only for luxury furniture but also for restaurants, hotels, ports and airports.
Measuring 75 cm in height, 100 cm in width and 200 cm in length, the Big Will Dining Table/Office Table from Magis is striking for the whimsical element of asymmetry in the design, with legs terminating in small, flat fleet at one end and in oversized rubber castors at the other hence the piece's name, a play on "big wheel" . Otherwise the table is sleek and minimalist, with a nod to Art Deco in the elegant curves where the legs meet the tabletop. Made of die-cast aluminium and glass, it comes in a choice of painted and metallic finishes, the former ideal for functional office spaces, the latter a glittering centrepiece for chic modern dining rooms.
