The Vol Suspension Lamp was created by Lievore, Altherr, Molina for the Vibia label. With its simple, uncluttered design, it's an eye-catching piece of modern lighting.
Made up of Argentinian designer Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr from Heidelberg in Germany, and Manel Molina from Spain, the studio Lievore, Altherr, Molina has been working on pathbreaking lighting projects since 1991. Regularly partnering with prestigious labels like Foscarini and Vibia, the trio are always in demand to furnish elite hotels and commercial properties. Now, some of their finest designs are available for ordinary homeowners, including this dazzling Vol Suspension Lamp.
The thinking behind the lamp is clear: to create a warm source of illumination that doesn't overwhelm interiors or jar with modern furniture, but that enhances them instead. It takes the form of a lozenge-shaped matte glass diffuser, which is suspended from the ceiling via a 200cm long cable.
The shade comes in two sizes: a smaller variety measuring 45cm across and a larger version measuring 60cm. Both options use four energy-efficient E27 lightbulbs, ensuring a constant, well modulated source of light for reading, cooking, dining or simply relaxing over a coffee with friends and family.
