The Chip magnetic paper clip holder was designed by Rodrigo Torres for the manufacturer Alessi.
Evolving with the times, this company is still as fresh and contemporary as it was when it was first established nearly a century ago. Born and educated in Bogota, Colombia, Rodrigo Torres now lives and works in Milan. His clients include sportswear and software giants as well as several top luxury furniture and accessories brands. In addition to his busy freelance schedule, he has also found time to hold several influential teaching posts. He has twice been a winner of the prestigious Colombian design award, the Lapiz de Acero.
Also doubling as a paperweight, the Chip magnetic paper clip holder from Alessi boasts a cheerful and appealing bird-like design, with a bright eye and perky tail. Made from chrome-plated zamak zinc alloy, it measures 10.5cm in height and 9.5cm in diameter. Thanks to the magnets inside it, paper clips cling to the outside of the bird, creating the appearance of a coat of ruffled feathers which the user can rearrange at will. A charming ornament that also helps to maintain a tidy desktop.
