The Walter Wayle II Wall Clock was designed by the iconic Philippe Starck for furniture brand Alessi.
One of the pioneers of modern design, Philippe Starck is a French designer known for his incredibly innovative industrial, architectural and product designs, including furniture. The son of an aeronautical engineer, Strack started out working with Italian furniture manufacturers and quickly earned a reputation as an innovator, seeking to reduce cost and improve the quality of mass-market goods. He is one of the most prominent leaders of the designer-meets-everyday-objects movement, producing furniture and household objects that are every bit as beautiful and artistic as museum exhibits.
Both a work of modern art and a classic time piece, the Walter Wayle II Wall Clock is a stunning contemporary hybrid of design and functionality. The design takes the arms of a traditional clock but removes the regular backpiece, leaving something that's reminiscent of a pair of rotor blades or the fins of a dolphin. The result is a slowl rotating living timepiece that displays the time with 'wings' that freely turn on the wall. With a depth of just 5cm and a diameter of 25cm, the clock is compact and is constructed in durable ABS plastic providing longevity and ease of maintenance.
