The Original 1227 Mini Table Lamp was designed by George Carwardine for the manufacturer Anglepoise.
Since 1933, the company Anglepoise has been producing classic designs from Great Britain, and is renowned for its flexible modern and stylish desk and table lamps. Several examples of the company's early lamps have been exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Science Museum in London, reflecting the impact of their design on everyday lives. The designer, George Carwardine, initially developed an articulated task lamp using a unique concept of weights and levers to combine flexibility and balance, that remains an iconic British design.
The Original 1227 Mini Table Lamp is an instantly recognisable lighting piece, with its classic steel shade, gloss painted finish, a steel profiled arm and cast iron pyramid-shaped base with an integral switch. The lamp has chrome plated fittings, a braided cable with a length of 180cm, and it measures 52cm in height with a maximum reach of 20cm from base to shade, allowing light to be angled on to work surfaces and around the room, adding a contemporary finish to any interior.
