Karuselli Ottoman

The Karuselli Ottoman was designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro for the brand Artek .

Founded in Helsinki in 1935, Artek takes a radical approach to design with collections that marry poetic form and functional clarity. The work of Finnish designer and architect Yrjö Kukkapuro has brought him global acclaim. His early designs are widely exhibited and among his many awards is the coveted Pro Finlandia Medal of the Order of the Lion of Finland.

One of Kukkapuro's most famous designs is the Karuselli Chair, named the most comfortable in the world by The New York Times in 1974, while Sir Terence Conran said it was his favourite chair. The Karuselli Ottoman is an extension of that chair. It is organic in appearance while being ergonomically designed to extend the comfort factor of its partner. It also stands alone as a piece of seating. The square-shaped padded top is made from PU foam and upholstered in high-grade leather available in a choice of shades. Contrasting in colour and texture, the pedestal and legs are made from white moulded fibreglass. The Karuselli Ottoman has felt glides to protect flooring and measures 53.5 x 38 x 53.5 cm.
