This cute and functional Lotus Lantern was designed by Kristina Stark for the Swedish manufacturer Design House Stockholm.
Since being established by Anders Färdig in 1992, Design House Stockholm has delighted consumers with a stream of innovative and attractive items for the home. Much of the firm's success comes from its 'publisher' model, whereby both established and unknown designers are encouraged to submit concepts for consideration. Winning ideas include the Block Lamp by Harri Koskinen, Toupie salt & pepper shakers by Jessika Källeskog and Family Chairs by Lina Nordqvist. Today the firm's portfolio comprises over 1,000 items including lamps, furniture, tableware and textiles.
Crafted from glass on a metal frame with an aluminium base, this charming Lotus Lantern was originally created for a special event in Stockholm's Rosendals Garden. Its delightfully balanced sense of proportion makes it eye-catching as well as a lovely source of light. It can be positioned on the floor or on a table or shelf and also features a bracket on top to suspend it from ceilings. Measuring 44cm in height, the Lotus Lantern delivers attractive accent lighting either indoors in the living or entrance areas of the home, or outside on balconies, terraces and in gardens.
