Ball Chair Leather

The Ball Chair Leather has been created by Eero Aarnio for the brand Eero Aarnio Originals. When it was displayed at the 1966 Cologne Furniture Fair, it was immediately considered iconic. Even today, it is a representation of Finnish design and is a common feature not only in the country but around the world. It can also be found in prestigious art museums.

The design of the Ball Chair Leather was inspired by Aarnio's interest in fibreglass. He wanted to find a way to use it to make furniture. He decided that would be a ball-shaped chair. Aarnio wanted to create a piece that could not be ignored. He succeeded when he created a clever orb-shaped shell with space for a seat and backrest. Inside the Ball Chair is a cushion filled with polyurethane foam and upholstered with premium-quality leather. The inner lining of the shell is also padded and upholstered to match the cushion while the outside has a glossy gel coat finish. The shell is supported by a disc-shaped swivelling base.

The Ball Chair Leather has a width of 110cm, a height of 120cm and a depth of 97cm. Its seat height is 37cm.
