Splügen Bräu Suspension Lamp

The Splügen Bräu Suspension Lamp was designed by Achille Castiglione for the manufacturer Flos. Achille Castiglione 1918-2002 was a key figure in Italian architecture and design in the decades following World War Two. He worked on major architectural projects as well as more experimental pieces for display in art galleries, and in later years he taught at the universities of Turin and Milan. He was a recipient of no less than nine Compasso d'Oro awards. Many of his designs maintain a timeless appeal that still keeps them in production today.

Castiglione explained that there was a clear inspiration behind Flos's Splügen Bräu Suspension Lamp - the beehive, a symbol of energy and productivity.
