The Brass 95 Suspension Lamp was developed by Paola Navone for the manufacturer Gervasoni.
With its headquarters and factory located in Pavia di Udine in Italy, this company has been making hand-crafted furniture and fittings attuned to contemporary needs since the 1880s. In recent decades, it has continued to explore new directions, creating lines of wooden furniture and bedding. Gervasoni's artistic director for the last 20 years, Paola Navone first came to prominence in the 1970s, when she was associated with the flamboyant and colourful aesthetic of the decade's premiere Italian designer Ettore Sotsass.
The company's hand-crafted aesthetic is very much to the fore in the Brass 95 Suspension Lamp. Measuring 80cm in diameter and 15cm in depth, it has an organic, limpet-like shape made from brass with a rough, matte, hand-beaten finish. Taking its inspiration from primitive tribal art, the resulting piece has a rich visual appeal, while its wide, flat reflector helps to create a warm pool of light. Intriguingly different, the Brass 95 Suspension Lamp is ideal for bringing an element of surprise to dining rooms, living rooms and relaxation areas such as hotel lounges.
