The Ultima Thule Serving Bowl Ø37cm was designed by Tapio Wirkkala for iittala.
Iconic Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala was once the artistic director for iittala, one of the country's most established home accessories design houses. Wirkkala first designed his now famous range of Ultima glassware for the company back in 1968, and it remains a design classic to this day.
As with all items in the range, the Ultima Thule Serving Bowl Ø37cm has been expertly hand blown to create its unique, organic shape. This bowl is shallow with a diameter of Ø37cm, making it ideal for deserts, fruit salads or as a pasta or salad serving bowl. The uniquely textured outer surface is finished with four small rounded 'feet' at the base, which help stabilise the bowl. This textured finish is reminiscent of a natural block of ice or snow, making it ideal for cold items at a summer buffet.
The Ultima Thule Serving Bowl Ø37cm looks striking as a table centerpiece, especially when used alongside additional items from the Ultima range such as the Ultima Carafe. Other complementary serveware includes the Alessi Mediterranean Salad Servers.
