The K/Wood Armchair has been created by Philippe Starck for the brand Kartell. Launched in 2015, the K/Wood collection showcases French designer Starck's ability to craft delightful forms and use innovative techniques to deploy materials in original ways. Fun to use, elegant, and very practical, the K/Wood Armchair will serve users well in offices, lounges, or dining rooms.
The first thing that stands out about the K/Wood Armchair is its shell. Using a smart wood moulding process, Starck has managed to create unusual curves from recycled wood materials. Every edge of the chair seems to be sinuously curved, softening its appearance and enhancing its comfort. At the same time, ultra-slim steel tubing supports the wooden shell without intruding on the overall design, allowing the reclaimed wood to dazzle viewers.
When it comes to size, the K/Wood Armchair measures 110cm tall, while the chair is 68cm wide and 68cm deep. The seat stands 40cm from the floor, and the armrests are positioned at a height of 61cm - dimensions that will be compatible with most sitters. The use of slender wood and steel keeps the weight down to 8.5kg, while the feet have been padded at the base to protect fragile flooring.
