Groove Tablet

The Groove Tablet was conceived by the Norwegian designer Hallgeir Homstvedt for the Finnish company Muuto and it represents a truly unique new approach to creating serving trays.

Homstvedt specialises in taking everyday objects like vases or trays and seeing them anew through the prism of his imagination. This creative process constantly results in imaginative new takes on items that we take for granted, and the Groove Tablet from Muuto is a great example.

The "groove" in the title refers to the intricately grooved surface of these marble trays, something which isn't just for show. The pattern also provides grip for plates or cups placed on the Groove Tablet and stops it from moving around on smooth wooden dining tables as well. Each set comes with two trays, one with a diameter of 16cm and another measuring 21.6cm across. They will be an attractive element in a decorative table setting and will also look fantastic alongside ceramic bowls and baking dishes as well. Little touches like the quality of your trays can make or break formal occasions, so a few of these tablets will always be a handy thing to have in reserve.
