The Gear Coffee Table has been created by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl for the brand NORR 11. Its design is inspired by Brutalism Architecture which flourished in the middle of the 20th Century. This period leaned towards structures that had block shapes and the use of concrete.
The Gear Coffee Table gets its name from the base that replicates the toothed part of a machine known as a gear. It is made of fibre concrete. The table looks heavy but this concrete is lightweight so it is not as heavy as it looks. It has a thick round tabletop. It is supported by a frame that has a trio of cylindrical-shaped legs. They have fluting running down their length which adds another aesthetic detail. The three legs are positioned just the way they would be in a machine if it were turning. Two are positioned next to each other while the third is centred in front of them. The table comes with pads that go underneath the legs.
The Gear Coffee Table has a height of 37cm and a diameter of 70cm. It comes in neutral colours. It is made by hand so there may be minor variations.
