The Fresnel Outdoor Standing Lamp has been created by Joe Colombo for the brand Oluce. First appearing in 1966, Fresnel outdoor lamps quickly became an iconic creation of the post-war era. In this case, Colombo crafted an outdoor lamp that will enhance gardens and terraces, combining harmoniously with foliage and decorative elements.
Sleek and sophisticated, the Fresnel Outdoor Standing Lamp has a torch-like design, with a diffuser mounted on a central column. The column measures either 40cm or 90cm tall, depending on which model is chosen. In both cases, the diffuser measures 10cm in diameter while the base diameter is 13cm. To promote stability, the Fresnel Outdoor Standing Lamp also fixes into the floor, ideal for use in outdoor conditions.
The main column of the Fresnel Outdoor Standing Lamp has been made from zinc-plated aluminium, while the diffuser support is made from lacquered aluminium, and the white luminaire is made from opal glass. The lens itself borrows from the form of 'Fresnel' lenses used in lighthouses - focusing the beam and adding to its power. As a result, the single bulb can light surprisingly large outdoor spaces.
