The Svea Plastic Rug 180x260cm was designed by Lina Rickardsson for the manufacturer pappelina.

Rickardsson has been developing her innovative line of textiles since the 1990s. Her stylish rugs combine the tradition of Swedish handicraft with some decidedly modern materials to create high-quality and versatile pieces.

The Svea Plastic Rug 180x260cm owes its versatility to the designer's choice of textiles. Rickardsson works with easy-care synthetics and plastics that are simple to clean, feel comfortable underfoot and are hard-wearing enough for hallways, kitchens, lawns and balconies. The rug is also fast drying, making it ideal for use on the patio or near the pool. The materials used also provide the necessary workability to create a variety of styles and patterns, and this rug is woven on a traditional Jacquard-style loom.

Rickardsson began experimenting with PVC and other weaving materials in an old weaving mill close to her hometown in Sweden, and from those early prototypes to the modern products, her creations are marked by a love of tone, texture and finish. Furthermore, all her pieces are environmentally sustainable, as she insists that no harsh softeners or heavy metals are used in their production.
