The Blip Spoon Rest was developed by Paolo Gerosa and LPWK Design for the manufacturer Alessi, an Italian company celebrated for its award-winning domestic wares and kitchen accessories.
An emerging talent, Paolo Gerosa graduated in 2005. His trademark style involves the synthesis of expressive design elements with precision industrial production methods. Established in 2004, LPWK is the brainchild of Laura Polinoro. With a background in costume and set design, she worked as an art director for Alessi for almost a decade before establishing her own very successful studio.
Striking for its sinuous, organic design, the Blip Spoon Rest borrows its concave form from the splash created by the impact of a raindrop on a pool of water. Measuring 15cm long and 9cm wide, it is made from durable stainless steel, yet it appears light and delicate. Richly appealing to the eye, the shape is also practical in that it is very stable and capable of accommodating a wide variety of spoons and ladles. Extremely useful for helping to keep the table linen clean during soup courses and desserts, the Blip Spoon Rest makes a graceful addition both to domestic dining rooms and to high-end restaurants.
