The MiòJar Box for Cat Food was created by Miriam Mirri for the manufacturer Alessi, an Italian firm which is a leader in the field of luxury designer housewares.
After studying in Bologna and London, Miriam Mirri established her own highly successful studio in Milan in 2000. In addition to Alessi, her clientele includes a number of top jewellery and watch brands. Characterised by their use of warm, relatable imagery, her pieces have appeared in over 20 prestigious exhibitions, including the New Italian Design pavilion at the 2007 Milan Triennale.
Many of the pieces from this Italian brand are embellished with cute animals and engaging creatures, and so too is the MiòJar Box for Cat Food. Providing plenty of storage, the glass jar measures 27cm in height and 10.5cm in diameter, with a capacity of 1.5 litres. Visually, the main focus is the resin lid, which is decorated with a handle in the form of a seated cat looking upward with a hopeful expression on its face. At the same time, the lid is extremely functional, supplying an airtight seal that should prevent dried cat food from losing its freshness.
