Since 1987, the Spanish label Nanimarquina has meant colourful, handmade carpets. In recent decades, Nanimarquina has become one of the most renowned companies for carpets.
The hallmark of carpets from Nanimarquina is great, bright colours and elaborate patterns. The carpets rarely follow short-lived trends. Rather, Nanimarquina relies on timeless designs that remain fashionable for many years. This can be geometric patterns or ethnic-inspired designs.
In addition to numerous creations, Nanimarquina repeatedly collaborates with other designers. In the past, collaborations have included designers like Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Tord Boontje, Michael Lin, Ron Arad and Javier Mariscal.
Especially important alongside the designs are, above all, the materials and production techniques for Nanimarquina.Nanimarquina produces mostly in India - here the carpets are hand tufted, partly following traditional craftsmanship - that is to say, handmade.

For drawing and designing Nani Marquina goes back home to the mountains of Spain. The peace and solitude found there encourages creativity, according to their own testimony.
Nani Marquina learnt the craft at the Massana School, and Marquina graduated from here in design studies. There was also a family "bias": Nani Marquina’s father ran his own architectural and design firm in which Nani Marquina worked after her education for some time before starting her own business in 1974 with an interior shop: Lack of choice when it came to carpets for her interior projects led Nani Marquina to become active. The idea was born and in 1987 was followed by a business.

Economically smart decisions helped Nanimarquina recover growth. And the success proved Nani Marquina right: Over the past 25 years, the Nanimarquinacarpets have won numerous awards, including the "Red Dot Design Award" and the "Delta Award". And Nani Marquina herself celebrated the international award as "Entrepreneur of the Year" - the first woman ever who runs a business to win.
