The striking Wooden Chair was designed by popular Australian industrial and furniture designer Marc Newson for furniture label Cappellini.
Newson has worked across a wide range of fields, including designing household objects, cars and sculptural pieces. Born in Sydney, Newson spent a great deal of his childhood travelling across Europe and Asia. Following his graduation, he was awarded a grant from the Australian Crafts Council, with which he put on his first exhibition that featured the Lockheed Lounge - an iconic piece that has now, twenty years on, set a consecutive three world records at auction.
The graceful sweeping curves of the Wooden Chair lend an air of exclusivity and organic beauty to any room, whether adorning a living room, study or hallway. Expertly constructed from solid beechwood, the chair is oiled to provide a neat finish and excellent durability. The chair stands at 70cm tall, 103cm deep, 82cm wide and has a seat height of 36cm. With a weight of 36kg, the Wooden Chair has a sturdy feel and resists slipping on the floor whilst being easy to move between rooms. The chair's supportive backrest and seating area provide a comfortable seating experience, allowing the user to choose between upright and backward-leaning sitting positions.
