Hola Chair

The Hola Chair was developed by Hannes Wettstein for the manufacturer Cassina, one of the premier names in Italian decor. In addition to a busy career as a lecturer and academic, Swiss designer Hannes Wettstein 1958-2008 worked on a broad spectrum of projects ranging from audio equipment and timepieces to lighting and household accessories. He also created designs for a well-known hotel chain and several of his nation's embassies. He was the recipient of the Compasso d'Oro award in 2004.

Measuring 79cm in height and 46cm in width, the Hola Chair from Cassina is made from steel with polyurethane foam padding. Over this sits a removable outer cover of leather which extends not just over the seat area but also the legs and back. In terms of its silhouette, the most striking feature of the piece is the wingback-style backrest, along with the sharply angled back legs, which seem to tilt the chair forward alertly. Meanwhile, the softness of the leather is offset with defined seams and visible stitching. A stylish modern twist on traditional leather upholstered furniture, the Hola Chair is a great seating option for bars and restaurants as well as contemporary dining rooms.
