Bernhard Dessecker was born in Germany, in 1961.
From 1979 to 1983 he studied interior design. By the years 1983 and 1984 he worked as an interior designer in New York.
After that he was a freelancer and worked for Ingo Maurer.
From 1994 to 1997 he designed the light collection "Luzon" for the manufacturer Alteco.
Following he had a lectureship for light art.
Since 1999 he gives workshops and talks at universities and museums.
