Hannes Wettstein was born in Ascona, Switzerland in 1958. He is counted among Switzerlands most innovative and successful designers. His most famous works include his Juliette chair (1987) for Baleri, the Globe sofa (2000) for Cassina and development of the worldwide first low-voltage cable-track lighting system for the Swiss company, Belux.
In 1991 Hannes Wettstein founded his agency with its head office in Zurich. The office in Zurich Seefeld is internationally active. Together with his team, comprising 15 designers and architects, Hannes Wettstein designs interiors, furniture, lighting, watches, electronic entertainment products as well as standard and luxury goods.
In addition to his work in the company, Hannes Wettstein is also active as an educator. Among other teaching commitments he held the post of lecturer at the ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal institute of Technology Zurich) from 1991 to 1996 and Professor at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe College of design) from 1994 to 2001.
