The Miss Lacy Chair was designed by French icon Philippe Starck for Italian furniture lab Driade.
Since its foundation in 1968, Driade has been the watchword for high quality and dynamic innovation in equal measure. Philippe Starck's Miss Lacy Chair is a perfect example of these ideals. It also showcases Starck's own love of elegant minimalism infused with warmth and accessibility.
To perfect the design of the Miss Lacy Chair, Starck revived an ancient wax casting technique. This allowed him to conceive of a floral cutout design which is at once Baroque and grandiose yet also sleek and graphic. The romantic pattern across the chair's body is an unexpected motif from a designer like Starck. It charmingly complements a signature shape that Starck aficionados will instantly recognise. Like previous Starck pieces for Driade, this chair has a full, curved body with pin-like legs. It measures 58 x 58 x 77 cm. The body is expertly carved from stainless steel, to which the tapered legs are welded. The whole is polished to a mirrored finish, resulting in a solid, durable piece which seems utterly light and delicate thanks to its reflective properties.
