The stylish and understated Folio Grande Wall Lamp was created by Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato for the top Italian design company Foscarini.
Foscarini was set up in 1981 on the island of Murano, known all over the world for its glass production. The company specialised in glass lighting until branching out into other materials in 1993. The company has won several prestigious awards, such as the Compasso d'Oro, and has become widely known for its focus on technological innovation.
Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato have been at the helm of the business since 1988, acting as owners, managers, and designers. They created the Folio Grande Wall Lamp together, and have stated that they use light to stir up emotions, to create a feeling of peacefulness and an element of beauty.
The Folio Grande Wall Lamp is created from a semi-opaque screen of frosted blown glass, that is reminiscent of the sail on a boat. Its lines are not uniform but instead are pleasingly unsymmetrical, giving the light a relaxed feel and diffusing a soft glow of light. It measures length 48cm, width 13cm, and height 38cm. It takes 1x Halogen rod R7s / 120W bulb.
