The Turbo Suspension Lamp Ø62cm has been created by Louis Weisdorf for the brand Gubi. It makes quite a statement of style with its unpeered, spiral shade. Its design is inspired by the paper that is used to make traditional Japanese lamps. Designed in 1965, it has never lost its appeal.

The Turbo Suspension Lamp Ø62cm has a spherical shade made of flat aluminium strips. There are a dozen of them and they have micro-openings along the length where each strip is interlocked with the next. Narrow steel rods reinforce its strength. The completed look resembles a flower with its petals in full bloom. The exterior is finished with glossy lacquer while the inside is matte. This has the effect of creating subtle, aesthetic colour and texture contrasts. The shade houses a diffuser and light source that casts a soft, diffused light. It resembles a halo with more light cast through the openings in the shade.

The Turbo Suspension Lamp Ø62cm has a height of 62cm and a diameter of 62cm. Its cable has a length of 380cm. It is available in neutral colours. It doesn't have an integrated dimmer but its light intensity can be adjusted by using a dimmable bulb. It is compatible with an E27 socket and the bulb has to be purchased separately.
