The quirky Kipu D01 Stool H45cm was created by Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll for the contemporary Italian design company la palma.
la palma was developed in the 1980s by the Marcato brothers. The company focuses on natural and recycled materials, and on working with new machinery and technology. Their headquarters in Padua reflect the modern and functional designs of their products. The Kipu Stool H45 was created by Anderssen & Voll for the company.
Anderssen & Voll founded and ran the design collective Norway Says, before creating their own line in 2009. They operate the company from their headquarters in Oslo, and have won several prestigious awards for their work such as the Red Dot Award and the Wallpaper Award.
The Kipu Stool H45 is both practical and whimsical. The stool is fashioned to look almost like a pebble, with curved edges; as if it has been gently smoothed by flowing water. There are multiple colour options, and several of the stools can be grouped together to create a focal point. The seat itself is made from covered foam, in fabric, leather, or faux-leather, with polyethylene feet. It measures 57 x 45 x 45 cm.
