The Nomad Chair was designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hydahl for the brand NORR 11.
NORR 11 is a company that delivers Scandinavian design with a novel twist. Exemplifying this approach, the Nomad Chair is an eye-catching, innovative take on traditional European bentwood conservatory furniture. The name "Nomad" is meant to suggest "Nordic", with an exotic Moroccan influence, too.
Made from bamboo covered in glossy lacquer, the chair has a saddle-shaped seat and an oversized backrest which is supported by two long back legs. This gives it a cosily curvy, stocky appearance, and in fact it is nearly as wide as it is tall, with a breadth of 100cm and a height of 110cm. There's a lightness and airiness, courtesy of the rattan upholstery, to the seat and back. The neck pillow and seat cushion are made of supple leather for an additional touch of opulence. Graceful and inviting, informal yet stylish, the Nomad Chair already features in the foyers of several premium hotels, and it's easy to picture it in plenty of other locations, too. In conservatories, for example, but also bedrooms with gauzy curtains, lounges scattered with cushions and rugs and other settings.
