The S 533 LF Cantilever Armchair has been created by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the brand Thonet. The later German-American architect and industrial designer der Rohe was a strong proponent of the Bauhaus Movement which was all about functional art and design. The iconic designer put his architectural expertise to design sculpted, futuristic pieces that were well ahead of their time. Thonet has brought the Cantilever line designed in 1927 back to life with a re-issue.
The S 533 LF Cantilever Armchair uses metallic tubes that the brand was a big part of inventing and manufacturing back then. This chair has a frame made of stainless steel tubes with a seat and backrest made of high-quality leather. The leather is draped over the tubes and held in place with concealed screws. The armchair is designed such that it appears to have a frame that has a double pair of tube-style legs. The illusion is created by a pair of sled-style legs and other arcs that come from the armrests to the lower end of the sled legs.
The S 533 LF Cantilever Armchair has a width of 55cm, a height of 82cm and a depth of 84cm. It has a seat height of 444cm. It is available with a chromed stainless steel frame with black leather.
