The Eames Storage Unit ESU Shelf was designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Vitra.

Vitra was founded in 1950 and is a family-owned, Swiss company that produces innovative furniture and lighting for the home and office. The members of the famous American husband-and-wife design duo, Charles and Ray Eames, are two of the most influential designers of the 20th century, and they began collaborating with Vitra in 1959. They are responsible for some iconic pieces of furniture such as the Eames Lounge Chair, which is still in production some 60 years after its creation.

The Eames Storage Unit ESU Shelf is a handsome, free-standing set of shelves that was designed in 1949 but is still relevant today. This useful unit is constructed of panels of colour alongside a black metal frame. The shelves are expertly crafted from maple plywood with a clear lacquer finish. The shelving comes in a variety of heights and configurations and can be used against a wall or to separate areas within a room. An easily recognised Eames piece, it would look stunning in most rooms in the home or work place.
