The 1967 Suspension Lamp has been created by Paavo Tynell for the brand Gubi. It makes use of different materials to achieve function and create an aesthetic effect based on contrast. Their varying textures, colours and shapes combine to give the lamp an overall look that is vintage and contemporary at the same time.
The 1967 Suspension Lamp has a wide, conical shade made of cotton canvas which is strong and hardwearing. It is also resistant to fading. The designer is well known for his love for bronze. Here it is used to create an intricately curved support that holds the two bulbs that the lamp requires. A disc shaped diffuser clicks into place below the bulbs to soften the light cast. Additionally, a gleaming rose-shaped cover sits on top of the shade. Glamour is added with a gold-coloured textile cable that secures the lamp to the ceiling.
The 1967 Suspension Lamp has a height of 27cm and a diameter of 56cm. Its cable has a length of 380cm. The lamp cannot be dimmed. Available in neutral colours, it works with two E27 sockets. The bulbs has to be purchased separately. It will add elegance over a kitchen or dining table, along a hallway, in a living room or entryway. It can also be used to light up hotel foyers, rooms and other commercial spaces.
